CASE STUDY: Ironmongery Online

Ironmongery Online, the UKs leading online ironmongery retailer, sells tens of thousands of products online and relies heavily upon the effectiveness of their website and digital marketing strategy. The newly appointed Marketing Manager came to Opace in 2012 for SEO training and an assessment of their previous supplier’s work. From there, our relationship grew.

Following a very successful training session, we were appointed by Ironmongery Online to develop a new responsive, bespoke Magento design with improved SEO, as well as the website development for a new venture called PRIMUS. We were also asked to carry out an SEO audit and link removal project, which took place over three months and resulted in search ranking improvements for over 80 keywords. In conjunction with the SEO audit work, we continued to impress the firm our fully managed digital marketing service.

The Result

We delivered high quality SEO content creation, infographic design and impactful content marketing. The combined efforts of the above activities delivered great results for Ironmongery Online and in the words of Vicky Tomline, Marketing Manager, “The copy is great, not just random words put together, but actual readable interesting content. David came up with the idea of Infographics, we love these! Not only are these and the subsequent themed blogs Opace create great for SEO but they are great for our Facebook campaigns, social media and educating customers about our products”.

The SEO training undertaken by our team via David Bryan at Opace has been a truly eye opening experience. The knowledge and experience David has passed on has allowed us to structure a more robust SEO strategy that should see our website Ironmongery Online flourish. The two day course touched on all aspects of SEO and using our own website as the example meant we could see where and how changes should be made.
Undergoing an SEO audit and link removal project was an investment. Having originally paid another agency to have these links put in place it was frustrating to have to then pay to have them removed. I am glad we did though, the Opace team did a great job and within three months, the site rankings reflected this work with over 80 keywords improving.
They look after our content in terms of coming up with ideas, writing it, adding to our WordPress blog and making connections with third-party blogs. The copy is great, not just random words put together, but actual readable interesting content. David came up with the idea of Infographics, we love these! Not only are these and the subsequent themed blogs Opace create great for SEO but they are great for our Facebook campaigns, social media and educating customers about our products. They have also taken control of our on-site content. With hundreds of categories and tens of thousands of products, writing relevant copy for each URL on our site quite a task! This content, mixed with links and keywords and relevant to the pages within that URL are definitely a huge part of our content strategy and it seems to be working!
