Family owned business Lifting Gear Direct approached Opace in 2016 for SEO support when they experienced a considerable loss of search rankings and a lack of progress from their previous SEO supplier. Opace were tasked with taking over. 18 months later and we’ve delivered a huge 30% improvement in organic visibility with over 2/3 of the keywords ranking on page 1.

The first stage of our strategy was to quickly carry out an in-depth audit to identify any technical issues or potential Google penalties relating to duplicate content and poor-quality backlinks. Wethen put a plan in place to tackle the issues and have been delivering considerable improvements through our ongoing SEO/digital marketing strategy ever since.

One of the key recommendations resulting from the audit was that the website navigation/architecture needed to be revisited in light of our keyword research. We undertook a significant website re-structuring exercise, which included more logical groupings and naming conventions for products and categories, combined with site-wide updates to the content and metadata. Another key recommendation was to address the website speed/performance. Following a Magento technical optimisation project, we saw a huge 350% improvement in speed, with the website now loading in under 1 second.

Over the last 18 months, we’ve delivered various ongoing digital marketing campaigns, which have been carefully planned to combine upgrades to the website content, blog writing, infographic design, content marketing and online PR.

The Result

We were asked to monitor 30 keywords. Over the past 10 months, we’ve seen a 30% improvement in organic visibility with 20/30 competitive keywords now ranking on page 1. The others continue to show improvements every month.

Lifting Gear Direct is a website we have traded from for many years and its success is critical for our business. Being honest we’d had a really disappointing experience with our previous SEO partner, so I was cautious when talking to Opace about their monthly SEO service.
